WILMINGTON — Explosive plays are a staple in New Hanover High School's offense and Trevon Brown, a senior wide receiver, will be counted on the make his share of them this fall.
"I feel unstoppable, that's the mindset you have to have." said Brown.
Last season, Brown posted 1,035 yards of receiving and 11 touchdowns. As a result of his performance as a junior, the 6 ft. 3 in. 211 pound player holds scholarship offers from ECU and UNC-Charlotte.
"He's scary, he can be as good as he wants to be. The sky is the limit for him," said head coach of the New Hanover Wildcats Kevin Motsinger.
Forty-two players make up the Wildcats senior class this season and Brown is taking pride in being one of the leaders of this year's squad.
"It's special to me, because I saw how the previous seniors helped leave a mark. I want to leave my mark," said Brown.
The senior wideout displays his leadership in practice by letting his offensive teammates know how there will be plenty of chances for them to make plays because of the attention he will receive from opposing defenses.
"I'm going to do my part to get two guys on me, so I tell them that's going to give them a chance to make plays and help the team,” said Brown.
Brown and the Wildcats kickoff the 2012 season at home against Goldsboro.
