WILSON—Businesses in the Wilson Mall are getting ready to move or shut down.
The mall is scheduled to close its doors for good in January, leaving remaining stores making the decision on what to do next.
Some store-owners say the push to move could be a good thing but say they were not expecting it to happen so quickly.
"Now we have a little bit of a time frame which is a little upsetting but we've looked all over town we've slimmed it down to a few places and we should make a decision within the next to weeks for sure where it is we're gonna end up,” said owner of the Hobby Shop Sue Furman.
Those who frequent the mall say they saw this coming.
"Well I understand the reason for it but I hate to see the inside malls close. It's so nice to be able to walk on the inside and not have to be out in the rain or anything,” said Wilson resident Jake Eichman.
The businesses have until January to leave. Mall owners said they will help the stores any way they can to find a new place. Demolition will begin some time next year.
