HIGH POINT—The High Point Police department is investigating a weekend stabbing between siblings that left a 16-year-old dead.
It happened early Sunday morning inside an apartment on Brentwood Street.
Police were called to an apartment complex shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday to investigate an assault with a weapon report.
Officers found Ti'kere Martin, 16, of High Point with stab wounds. EMS took him to High Point Regional Hospital where he later died. Police arrested the victim's 14-year-old sister and charged her with first-degree murder in the juvenile court system.
Her name was not released because of her age.
Neighbors were still stunned Monday afternoon. Malachi Ray lives near the neighborhood and said he used to hang out with the brother and sister after school.
"I didn't ever think that she was going to do something like that because she was a cool person and her brother was a cool person too,” said Ray.
Ray said the pair argued a lot but always over petty things, nothing serious. Kinsey Burke, a friend of the suspect. described interaction between the siblings as loveable.
Neighbors and friends said the 14-year-old had a temper when provoked but never acted violent.
