CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The entire student body took part in a "fun run" to raise money for Elon Park Elementary.
For the past three years the school's PTA has held the student fundraiser to help offset CMS budget cuts. The goal was to raise $25,000 which will go toward purchasing Smart Boards and other materials.
Students raised money by getting pledges from family and friends for the number of laps they ran.
"They get excited because the classroom's make a team name, they create goals for their class and then there's incentives. Today certain classes will get to throw water balloons at the Fun Run team if they met their class goal," said Tamara Morrissey, PTA president.
Most students met their goals for the Fun Run.
