CHARLOTTE -- The Charlotte City Council approved a 20 cent increase Tuesday night for one-way tickets on city buses and the light rail. Prices will go from $2.00 to $2.20.
Some daily commuters say they're not happy about the increase.
"It kinda hurts my pockets because I don't make a lot of money, most people that are on transportation aren't making a lot of money," said Bryan Moore, a commuter.
Other commuters say an extra 20 cents isn't a big deal.
"Has no impact on me. I mean I save so much money by taking the light rail that I'd take it anyway. Even if it went up more than that," said Kevin Rollwage, a commuter.
Since the light rail opened in 2007, prices to ride have gone up about 70 percent.
The fare increase goes into effect July 1.
