CHARLOTTE -- Democrats sweep the Charlotte City Council at-large race.

All four Democrats beat four Republicans and one Libertarian to maintain the Democrats' nine to two majority on the Charlotte City Council.

With his third victory, David Howard becomes the longest serving member serving at large.

"You can't take for granted when the public says to you, 'we want you to lead us.' You can't take that for granted. When 770,000 people says we want your leadership, you can't take that for granted."

Michael Barnes was the top vote getter followed by Vi Alexander Lyles, Howard and Claire Fallon. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
