CHARLOTTE – There may be some progress regarding funding for renovations at Bank of America Stadium.

The Carolina Panthers requested $63 million from the state and $144 million from the city. A source says a bipartisan group of Mecklenburg County legislators is working on an alternative that wouldn't include any state money.

One representative told News 14 Carolina the Mecklenburg County delegation is considering another option besides raising Charlotte's food and beverage tax by 1 percent to cover the city's share. They hope to introduce a bill in the next couple of weeks.

The Panthers would pay $96 million and promised to keep the team in Charlotte for 15 years.
