WILSON—The Wilson mall was supposed to close for good in January but its doors are still open, as owners say there's a delay because they're giving stores enough time to re-locate or close.
Only one business, GNC, still has its lights on inside and people are still using the building for walking despite the cold temperature, since the heat has been turned down. The mall is now predicted to close mid-March, and some say they'll take advantage of its final weeks
"Well we've got to figure out where we're gonna get our walking in at night we love walking on the inside. We're just going to miss the mall," said Wilson resident Robert Thomas.
The mall's owners decided to shut it down and demolish it because it wasn't profitable, leaving the movie theater and J.C. Penny's open, among a few other stores.
They plan to re-develop the land as a traditional outside shopping center.
