CHARLOTTE -- Six North Carolina veterans were honored in Charlotte Monday. The World War II vets received France's highest merit, the Legion of Honor. They received the medal from the French Consul-General.

Many are already decorated war vets, but say this honor is different.

"What does it mean to me? I can't express it in words. It's ah, one of the most wonderful things that happened to me," said Pfc. David Gordon.

One of the veterans passed away recently so the French government gave his medal to his widow. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
