GREENSBORO -- Super Bowl Sunday is one week away and some sports fans are getting ready by upgrading their TVs.

While TV sales often jump this time of year, there are so many options and shoppers need to know what they are looking for.

“You've got plasma, LCD, LED, Smart TV, wi-fi, Web browser, 3D, so there are quite a few options,” said H.H. Gregg sales associate Michael Armstrong.

Many retailers have cut their prices ahead of the big game. Market Watch expects shoppers to see a 10 to 15 percent drop in prices leading up to the Super Bowl.

“We know this is going to be a busy time so come in prepared ready for a busy day and take care of the customers,” Armstrong said.

Customers like Jim Eden say they are on the hunt for that perfect TV.

“There are a lot of choices, there really are a lot of choices out there, and I spent a lot of time on the Internet looking around,” he said.

TV shoppers are urged to look at the number of hertz. The higher it is, the better quality for fast movement.

Plasmas tend be a favorite because they offer virtually no motion blur. LCDs will give you a brighter picture and can reach 240 hertz to reduce motion blur.

According to Market Watch, your money goes further now than ever before when buying a television. In 2010, $600 might have gotten you a 32-inch set. Today, that's enough to get you a one as big as 50 inches depending on the brand. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
