CHARLOTTE -- On Dec. 4, Typhoon Bopha was the worst to hit the southern island of Mindanao in decades. It set off flash floods and landslides sweeping people away and destroying homes. North Carolina based Samaritan's Purse is now in the hardest hit areas of the Philippines and are already helping in the recovery efforts.
"Through our partners we were able to provide food for 6,500 individuals, provide kitchen kits, or items to 1,300 families, as well as 1,300 hygiene items for families," said team leader Nick Ledoux.
In the coming days, they expect to provide food for 10,000 and hygiene kits for 1,500 more and a water filitration in the hardest hit area.
