CHARLOTTE — Ballantyne residents and business owners aren't happy with the new road closures during the week of the Democratic National Convention.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police announced Friday that a portion of Ballantyne Commons Parkway and a number of adjoining roads will be shut down from September 3 to September 7. The closures are near the Ballantyne Country Club.

Business owner Matt Schipani says he'll loose thousands of dollars in business.

“I could potentially lose out on anywhere $10,000 to $75,000 dollars or more in one week so it is a pretty large impact,” said Schipani.

Schipani and area resident say they've been told the roads will be closed due to a special guest staying in the area during the convention.

Drivers who have any questions can call the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department's Public Affairs Division at (704) 336-2338. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
