CHARLOTTE – Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating an armed robbery Tuesday at a south Charlotte Internet sweepstakes parlor.

Detectives say two men entered the the Saints and Sinners sweepstakes parlor on Old Pineville Road, armed with guns, and demanded money. The getaway car was spotted a short time later, but police say the men got out and ran.

"The vehicle pulled into a apartment complex and the suspects jumped and ran from the vehicle," said Sgt. Brian Scharf, with the CMPD robbery unit.

Police arrested a man on South Tryon Street. They don't know if he's the robbery suspect, but they said they wanted to talk to him.

"I thought something had been wrong because I saw all the cops coming, cops coming from every direction,” a witness said. “I saw the police helicopter come down so I knew something took place."

The man, who didn't want to be identified, saw the person just seconds before he was placed in handcuffs.

“He kept looking around and looking at the sky, looking around,” the man said. “He was real nervous. I could tell he did something wrong."

The witness said he tried to get cell phone video but everything happened so fast.

Police say no one was injured in the armed robbery. At last check, no one had been charged. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
