RALEIGH — Governor Bev Perdue signed a bill Tuesday making it easier for military spouses to get jobs in North Carolina.
House Bill 799 lets workers licensed in another state get occupational licenses in North Carolina and not re-licensed in North Carolina. This would include teachers, nurses and cosmetologists among other professions.
Applicants would have to have qualifications either in the military or another state that meet or exceed North Carolina's standards. Each individual licensing board will have to adopt the new rules within one year of the bill taking effect.
