CHARLOTTE –The woman found shot to death early this week was pregnant.

Hawa Gabbidon's, 17, body was found at Thereassa Clark Elder Park in north Charlotte early Tuesday morning. Thursday, a medical examiner determined that Gabbidon was pregnant at the time of her death.

Jeff Gerber helped create the Unborn Victims of Violence bill, which is now a law. Gerber says the suspect will be charged with two counts of murder.

“North Carolina has one of the most harsh versions of the Unborn Victims of Violence bill being that the offender doesn't even have to know that the victim is pregnant," said Gerber.

At this point in time, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has not made any arrests. Anyone with any information that may help investigators, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
