SALISBURY, N.C. – The suspect mistakenly released from a Rowan County jail was caught in Concord Thursday. Rowan County authorities say Willie James Johnson Jr. was accidentally released from their jail Wednesday after posting bond on a lesser charge.

Salisbury police arrested the 19-year-old Tuesday for a number of charges – robbery with a dangerous weapon; assault by pointing a gun; and resist, obstruct, and delay of a public officer.

Rowan County Sheriff Kevin Auten held a news conference earlier Thursday saying the mix up came from a human error in paperwork.

He was put on a $25,000 secured bond for felony robbery and $500 for a misdemeanor. After his first court appearance Wednesday, Johnson paid the $500 and was released, but the $25,000 secured bond is still in effect, so he wasn't supposed to be released.
