CHARLOTTE -- Advocates against human trafficking fear there will be an increase in incidents during the Democratic National Convention. Groups said they have seen an increase of sex trafficking during other large events such as the Super Bowl.

They are working to educate hotel staff now, so they will know what to look for and what to do if they suspect the crime.

Advocates said there is even an international code of conduct they are trying to get hotel management to sign.

"The hotel managers tell me, 'Oh yeah we know when something is going wrong we just don't know what to do with it." said Sister Rose Marie Tresp, with Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.

Sisters of Mercy is hosting an information and training session on May 12. If you have questions or are interested in registering, email Sister Rose Marie Tresp at ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
