CHARLOTTE -- The rainy weather didn't stop folks from heading out to Carowinds Saturday morning. However, they weren't there for the rides. Instead, they're hoping to snag one of the more than 2,100 seasonal jobs currently being filled.
Every year this is a popular seasonal job fair. Obviously, it's not just because amusement parks are typically pretty fun, but the fact that in such a tough economy they're filling so many positions. It's a great opportunity for folks to secure something part-time or full-time.
While it might seem early to start thinking about summer employment, Carowinds actually kicks off its 2012 season, opening up for weekends starting Saturday, March 31. Whether you're a student, a teacher, retired or looking to start a career in the amusement park industry, they're hoping to draw out a wide variety of candidates to fill the large number of openings they have.
Of the more than 2,100 new hires, the park is looking to place people in areas such as food and beverage, maintenance, marketing, admissions and guest services and of course, the reason you come to the park--rides and entertainment.
If you're interested in applying and over the age of 15, you still have time. All you have to do is go online and fill out the application. Then bring that application down to the Carowinds employment office for a pre-screen interview. They're open daily, Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
