GREENEVERS, N.C. -- One person is dead and two are injured after a shooting in Duplin County Wednesday afternoon. It happened on Pasture Branch Road in Greenevers. Duplin County sheriff's deputies say three men got into an altercation when shots were fired.
Treveor Carr, 18, was killed, the other two men were also shot multiple times and taken to New Hanover County Regional Medical Center. Authorities say they are just lucky they didn't have more injuries in Wednesday's shooting.
"That large show of law enforcement presence diffused the situation because it got kind of tense once the shooting occurred," said Sheriff Blake Wallace. "A lot of people in the community immediately descended on the area and tensions flared, but thankfully cooler heads prevailed and nobody else was injured."
The sheriff says they believe the shooting is related to a shooting Sunday morning that killed 21-year-old Nicholas Bennerman. He says one of the wounded victims in this shooting is related to Bennerman. The sheriff says all of the shootings could be related.
