SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities are investigating after a 14-year-old girl died in a car accident early Saturday morning in Sampson County.

According to the Fayetteville Observer, officials say Ashleigh Nunnery was driving at speeds nearing 100 mph on High House Road when she lost control of the car.

Investigators say Nunnery was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.

She died at the scene.
