GREENSBORO – Franklinville resident Jeffery Denny faces animal cruelty charges after officials say he operated a dog fighting ring out of his home.

Deputies say they received a tip from the Bedford County Sheriff's Office in Virginia about the operation. Investigators searched the home and seized 16 dogs and several guns.

Denny faces 14 counts of dog fighting and baiting and 11 counts of animal cruelty. He's being held at the Bedford County Jail in Virginia without bond.
