CHARLOTTE – Thousands of walkers hit the pavement Saturday at Carowinds to help raise money toward finding a cure for juvenile diabetes.
News 14 Carolina anchor Heather Waliga served as master of ceremonies at this year's event.
Officials with JDRF say 15,000 children – 500 in North Carolina -- are diagnosed with the disease every year and the cost for supplies for someone with diabetes is between $400 and $600 a month.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation set a goal of $1.4 million.
