Tara Lane received her bachelor's degree from East Carolina University and then studied at Mississippi State University. She is a member of the National Weather Association and earned her National Weather Association Seal of Approval.
When she was 8 years old and living in Memphis, Tenn., a tornado ripped the roof off her home and caused severe damage to her community. That dramatic event sparked her interest in meteorology.
Tara began her broadcasting career at WITN in Washington, N.C., as a producer and weather anchor. While there, Tara covered the fury of Hurricane Floyd -- one of the worst storms in North Carolina’s history.
Reading traveling, and writing are some of Tara’s favorite pastimes, but the most important thing in her life is spending time with her family. She lives with her husband, daughter, son and Boston Terrier “The Hulk” in Charlotte.
