Meg Smith joined the Greensboro newsroom of Time Warner Cable News in June 2011 as a reporter and producer. She is thrilled to back in her home state! Meg grew up in Charlotte, and is a proud graduate of the University of NC at Chapel Hill. (Not to mention a huge Tar Heel fan!) She earned dual degrees in broadcasting and political science, and was a reporter for UNC's award winning show, Carolina Week. She also co-anchored the weekend news on WCHL radio news.
Prior to joining the team at Time Warner Cable News, Meg was a producer for WSFA 12 News in Montgomery, Ala. Meg's passion is telling stories, and she knew she wanted to be a reporter. Two and a half years later, that dream became a reality when she joined KNOE 8 News, the CBS affiliate in Monroe, La. Meg eventually became the senior reporter on staff and earned three AP awards, including second place for reporter of the year. But Meg says she really landed her dream job when she joined the News 14 staff!
In her spare time, Meg loves cooking, reading, running, and cheering on her Tar Heels! She is also a huge animal lover and a devoted mommy to her dachshund, Charlie, who she rescued from an animal shelter.
Meg loves to hear from viewers! Feel free to send her story ideas, comments, or suggestions to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
