CHARLOTTE -- Ballantyne residents, business owners, and politicians still want to know more about spiting from the city of Charlotte.
Hundreds of people attended the Ballantyne Breakfast Club's monthly meeting to talk about it. The group started discussing the idea late last year.
Charlotte city councilman Warren Cooksey said the possibility to split from Charlotte is being considered because of stress over reevaluations, higher tax bills due to a down economy, and neglect of services in the south Charlotte area.
“There have been lots of questions and very little action, so i view this club meeting as an opportunity to get information out so people can get their questions answered and have fewer rumors going around,” said Cooksey.
Residents say there is no timetable for any formal action. They say they need to gather more information before seriously considering a split from Charlotte.
