CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte Humane Society says it will receive about 40 of the dogs seized from what authorities are calling a puppy mill in Caldwell County.
In all, nearly 300 dogs were taken from Mason Creek Kennels. Animal control says it found several dead animals and dozens of others packed in crates with feces and that charges are pending against the owner, William "Bill" Thomas Allen.
The dogs are now at a temporary shelter at the Caldwell County Fairgrounds. The humane society vet is there Friday prepping the dogs to come to Charlotte.
They will be placed in foster homes first and later put up for adoption.
The humane society will be sending out information soon about items that people can donate to help them with the puppies.
