US Senate Candidates Prepare for First Debate

Neither Republican Thom Tillis nor Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan has been able to pull away from their competitor in North Carolina's highly-contested U.S. senate race. Now, voters will get a chance to see the two candidates side by side in a televised debate on Wednesday night. 4:37 PM

After a hearing in Robeson County Tuesday, a judge ordered two men originally convicted of murder in 1983 to be acquitted and released. The brothers were convicted in the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl 31 years ago.

The project will be known as the “Atlantic Coast Pipeline” and has an estimated cost of between $4.5 billion and $5 billion. It is expected to be completed in 2018 but still needs approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
